You know how punishments for your kids usually turn out to be punishments for yourself? For instance…taking away the TV only leads to you having to listen to their whiny voices telling you that they are bored? Well…have I got the answer for you {that is, if you have a swimming pool…}!?!
That’s right–that’s my feet relaxing in my pool by myself. And those are my kids, looking on during their 5 minutes of “time out”. I took away 5 minutes of pool time from each kid and threw in that they’d have to sit on the deck quietly while I enjoyed some time in the pool…and the key word was “quielty” because if I heard one whine out of them, they’d be out for another 5 minutes.
Those 5 minutes were total bliss.

LOVE it!! What a wonderful view that must have been.
I love it! I bet you had a smile on your face the entire time!
This is absolutely perfection. We have a pool. I’m SO enforcing this rule
What a FANTASTIC idea!!
Brilliant!
I’m sorry…all I could think of was skinny dipping when I saw the title “adult swimming”
Perhaps I’ve been a bit too long without the “company” of a man?? Oh boy!
Score one for the parent!! Love it!!
Hahhaahahaaaaa, LOVE it!!
This may be the funniest picture you ever posted!!!!!!!!!!! Love it!!
WOW- that worked? KUDOS
I think i would enlarge that pix and keep it above my computer if it were me! LOL
You are too funny. Torture for your kids and enjoyment for you at the same time. All punishments should work like this.
I love it, I sometimes tell my kids that if they whine or tattle one more time they are going to bed early knowing full well that this is something they can’t do I just want there to be an early bedtime, am I setting them up to fail? Maybe, but I get a peaceful evening, totally worth it!
Nice. Time outs are often just as much for me as they are for them.
LOVE the picture! So funny!
Honey? You are a complete and total genius.
And I seriously wish I had my own pool…
I’ve done something like this before. My kids were acting like “kids” during dinner one night and I had had ENOUGH. I threatened them with the “if you ___ one more time, no dessert!” (dessert is a rarity at our house). Well…lo and behold, they ____’d one more time so I kept my promise. No dessert AND I made them sit at the table while I ate it in front of them…na na boo boo…
Wow! SO glad I found you! You are hilarious! I’ll be back! My kids will be punished this way from now on when we are out at the pool
