A Boy After his Mommas Heart

by The Shore Mom on February 16, 2012

The writer in me could not resist buying my 7-year old son the Diary of a Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book for Valentines Day.  He is an avid storyteller by nature, and lately seems to not only enjoy reading books but coming up with stories of his own.  With The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book, he would act as the author, illustrator, and main character all at one time–clearly, it was right up his alley!

This book hasn’t left his side since Tuesday night. Filled with loads of interactive pages and plenty of space to for him to write his own life’s story, he has been eagerly creating his own masterpiece every chance he gets.  The book is in his hands as he walks down the hall in his snuggie in the morning, and accompanies him back to his room as he makes his way to bed at night.

Not only did I know this gift would entertain him for hours at a time but, selfishly, I was certain it would provide some excellent blog fodder, too.  Some of my favorites include:

  • If deserted on a stranded island, the movie he would want with his is….Yogi Bear {he’s NEVER seen it!}
  • List 3 adjectives that describe the last book you read {Captain Underpants, for the record}…Action, Funny & Romance.
  • An annoying catchphrase 20 years from now…..”What’s up Chickenfat!”
  • In 30 years, he is going to live “0″ miles from his current house. {Great!}
  • Favorite Athlete….Olga Korbut {Yes, the gymnast. Why? School project.}
  • Least Favorite Athlete….Chrissy {Yes, that would be me.}
